Two ways to mount a soundbar

Attached to the TV mount

A universal soundbar bracket bolts to the TV's VESA holes and hangs the bar 1–2 inches below the screen. The bar moves with the TV on tilting and full-motion mounts, and there are no extra holes in the wall.

Wall-mounted below the TV

The bar's own keyhole or bracket mount goes into the wall, usually 2–4 inches below the screen. Better for very heavy bars (Sonos Arc, Samsung Q-series) and for fixed-mount TVs where a precise gap matters.

Connections and settings included in a soundbar install

HDMI eARC is the right connection for Dolby Atmos and lossless audio on 2019+ TVs; optical is the fallback for older sets. The installer connects the bar, sets the TV's audio output to the external device, enables CEC so the TV remote controls bar volume, pairs the wireless subwoofer and any rear speakers, and runs a test clip so the difference is audible before the visit ends.

Hiding soundbar wires

A soundbar adds a power cord and an HDMI/optical cable. With in-wall concealment both run through the same wall kit as the TV; with a raceway the channel is sized for the extra cables. Wireless subs still need power — the sub goes near an outlet or gets an in-wall power relocation point.

Soundbar brands with their own bracket quirks

Sonos Arc, Beam and Ray; Samsung Q-series and S-series; Bose Smart Soundbar 600/900; Sony HT-A and Bravia Theater; LG S-series; Vizio Elevate and M-series; JBL Bar. Each has a different mount bracket and keyhole spacing — a prepared installer brings the right one.
